Dell is trading at a bargain level according Barron’s. Dell is a tech conglomerate and the sum of its publicly traded stakes in other
companies worth around USDbn 59 when Dell market capitalization is only USDbn 39 currently. One of the most valuable assets of
Dell is its 81% stake in VMware. That interest is now worth around USDbn 56, which is more than Dell’s market value of USDbn 39.
Dell also owns stakes in Secureworks and Pivotal Software that together are worth more than USDbn 3. It’s unusual for a company to be valued at less than its publicly traded stakes in other companies. Dell has underperformed S&P and Nasdaq by 15% during the last 3 months.
