Ingenico – Update

IOT and ING connects wellA strong view on the name

1) New contract with Allianz in Hungary – Objective:  equip by the end of this year 800 sales agents with its mobile payment solutions.

2) Web article in ‘TechCrunch’ – President T. Denis talks about the promotion of the RP170c application, the first contactless payment receiver to plug into a headphone-jack. With the support of NFC, this mobile payment solution (PoS product/terminal) will allow nearly any merchant to take payment via Apple Pay, MasterCard’s contactless technology, Visa’s payWave system and Google with its new acquisition Softcard. The solution from Ingenico is expected to hit the US market in Q2 15, and may help the company gain market shares.

3) Ingenico emphasizes the strong acceleration in the deployment of its PoS solution in Italy  – Drivers:  new framework (regulation/legislative) requires all merchants to accept card payment for all transactions over €30 – as a result, the company has 45’000 new contracts). Similar developments are possible in other ill-rotten countries such as France, Spain, Portugal, and Greece. On this background, the potential increase would therefore be exponential for a number of quarters.

4) There are about 700 million PoS in the US 1/3 big retailers (Home Depot/Staples, Walmart, restaurants, shops, etc) and 2/3 is ISO channel related. In the past years, ING has obtained strong sales growth in this market and given it has a competitive advantage in the US market versus its key competitor VeriFone one can expect this continue in the absence of any major development on the competitor side.
